For a century, the Knights Templar was the richest and most powerful order in the medieval world, a fearsome Crusader militia who were in charge of protecting pilgrims to the Holy Land. Their holdings were greater than those of any royal treasury, and they lived within one of the most sacred places on earth, the Temple of the Mount in Jerusalem. Then came accusations of unspeakable crimes, torture, and fiery death. Carved into the walls of their prison in France are runes that have never been deciphered. Medieval experts and code breakers examine and attempt to translate the coded geometric carvings as they examine who the Templars really were.
