Chaos and violence had taken over the towns and villages and the French army had been defeated by the Nazi troops. It shows how de Gaulle supported by Churchill urged the French population to resist through a radio broadcast from London. What pressures were imposed upon de Gaulle? What did he negotiate with the English? What did he commit to? What happened during those hours which ended up transforming de Gaulle into the legendary figure we know today?
