Catalina is a 17-year-old pop singer from small town Westfield, NJ. Although a new face to the public, Catalina has been performing since a young age. At 11 she won her first vocal competition, and was named the audience favorite. In 2008 she was named National High School Teen Idol. For her first self-titled album, Catalina recorded with producer Blake Althen of Human Factor. Fans say that her sound is similar to those of artists Lesley Roy and Kelly Clarkson. Her debut CD is filled with sugary pop songs and edgier tunes about breakups and lost love. The album shows off her extensive vocal power and range featuring catchy songs like "Ready For Love" and "I Hate It," contrasted by powerful ballads, "I Wanna Live" and "Return Again." Also available on the album is the popular single, "Like I Care." Catalina's musical career began after she won National High School Teen Idol and was featured on the national television show Fox and Friends. Since then she has been performing in local venues and gaining serious attention from local press. Her performing skills scored her a Papermill Rising Star Award Nomination. Of all her accomplishments Catalina is most proud of her charity work. She was honored to be a featured performer at the September 11th Memorial in Liberty State Park as well as the Victims of Violent Crime Gala, where Catalina performed alongside several other musicians including Gloria Gaynor. Currently the young artist is starting a marketing campaign for her new album. Catalina will be performing with her band and making appearances on regional TV talk shows. Radio promotion and publicity campaigns are also underway. The singer is also focused on online marketing. Her official Web site along with MySpace, and Facebook pages allow fans to follow her musical journey. Her single, "Like I Care" is available on iTunes, and the rest of the album will soon follow. Catalina will be recording her first music video for her single, with renowned director Tony Colapietro. Catalina's future plans include branching out to larger venues and expanding her fan base beyond her home state and the tri-state area. She will continue to build her music industry buzz and eventually seek a supportive record company to take her career to even greater heights.
