Aventura created their own unique style of bachata by infusing the sounds of Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggaeton. They also used both English and Spanish in their lyrics. The group was formed in 1994 by cousins Romeo and Henry Santos and brothers Max and Lenny Santos. They originally went by the name Los Teenagers (The Teenagers). They later decided to change their name to Aventura.
