Bill Macpherson - Many Rivers

This is a project created to reflect my memories of growing up in the Congo. The musicians on this recording are all good friends and long time music buddies as well as all being extremely versed in world music styles and jazz. Bandundu is the name of the province in Congo where my family lived first. Pamba Jean is the name of my best boyhood friend who befriended me the week we arrived. Vanga to Kinshasa is about the journey we took to get back and forth from our village to the capitol city. Shakin it Out is about the dancing you see at all important events. Wishful Thinking and Peace for Africa are prayers for the well being of the continent. Lost in the Jungle is about the healthy respect the tropical jungle teaches you. Macambo is about playful trouble making!!!!!
