Cathy Ponton King has long been a major fixture in the Washington DC blues scene. Her first CD 'Lovin' You Right' is the culmination of work with her husband Jeff King (production, songwriting) and world renowned guitarist Jimmy Thackery, and Ray Tilkens, long time famed producer in the Washington area at the AMBIENT recording Studio. Cathy's strong songwriting and vocals propell the CD and it has been over the world in several countries and she continues to add new fans with every show she plays. Strong vocals and her Telecaster Guitar make her live show a blues experience to long be remembered. Most of her material is all original and she draws on the times she met and learned from Muddy Waters, Albert King, KoKo Taylor, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Albert Collins, Willie Dixon, Bo Diddley, and many more blues greats she met while traveling the country playing music in honkey tonks and bars in the 1980's. The music is soulful, true and heartfelt and not a phony bone in the body of this work. Features guitar great Jimmy Thackery, and the late great Joe Stanley on sax, Bill Starks on piano.
