Losotros is a Latin/Brazilian jazz group formed in December, 2012 in New Orleans, LA. An invitation to perform at the 2014 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival prompted them to record their debut CD, 'Losotros'. The record features fresh interpretations of timeless classics by Jobim and others. The band also contributes 3 original tracks from a funky cha-cha-cha to a contemplative Guajira to soaring Samba-jazz. Comprised of talented musicians from across the music spectrum, the band seeks to combine the authentic rhythmic roots of the music that inspires them with modern funk, jazz and R&B sensibilities. The individual band members draw upon years of experience playing Afro-Cuban, Salsa, Bossa-Nova, Samba and other 'world music' genres, as well as rock, blues, folk and jazz fusion. Like so many things in New Orleans, Losotros is a dynamic blend of cultural influences and musical flavors.
