If James Dean, Elvis, John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe were in a diner together, Rick Monroe would be the guy playing on the jukebox. This 'blue jean country-rock n' roller' claims inspiration from icons like Garth Brooks, Mellencamp, and the Allman Brothers. A Florida native, the rugged singer/songwriter began his trek into the musical realm as a 'search for inner happiness' and to 'present a point of view that is at once autobiographical and universal.' The result of this man's journey is strong, compelling music that just screams American Country-Rock. So much so, in fact, Monroe and his L.A.-based band were invited by the Department of Defense to tour and perform at United States military bases in the Balkans (former Yugoslavia) last Thanksgiving. Monroe humbly accepted, and traveled by military transport from base to base, lightening the spirits of Americans serving overseas. This summer Rick and his band will be playing the Hanoi Opera House per the request of the US Ambassador to Vietnam. Asked about his musical style and Monroe calls it 'blue jeans country-rock-it never goes out of style and no matter the fad, it's a staple.' We agree. Regardless of your musical preferences, every once in a while it sure is great to slip into some old, comfortable, worn out jeans ...
