Jewel Stone Prophets is a collaboration by long lost cousins Gary Hooker and Howlin Buzz. Separated for over 30 years, the South Florida natives have united to record their debut EP. Hooker is a Nashville guitarist and currently a longstanding member of the Drama KIngs, Brad Paisleys band. Buzz is active in the Tampa blues scene, singing and playing harmonica. The idea to do a project started not long after Hooker heard a live CD that Buzz had recorded. Impressed with his cousins authentic blues delivery, he was inspired to start writing with co-writer James Stevenson ' swampy, southern, gritty' material that he wanted to record featuring Buzz. Sessions started in Nashville shortly thereafter. Eventually it evolved into calling the project Jewel Stone Prophets in honor of Buzz and Hookers grandmother, whose maiden name was Jewel Stone.
