The songs are a mix of jazzy Americana, bluesy standards, and sophisticated contemporary folk. As always, Bankston's heart is never far from home, Louisiana. At first hearing his style may not be exactly what has come to represent Louisiana music, but if you listen you will hear the land and the people. The melodies obey the lyrics.
