Ramona Ramonster - Impervious Nature

Impervious Nature is a feel-good celebration of funk. Think Parliament and Prince, think Deee-lite, too, because Ramona Ramonster does it all with sass and wit. Vocalist Susy Martian is backed by rubbery Bootsy-style bass and guitar that sound as if they were swiped from Chic or some other sexy, nasty 1970's-style funk outfit. Keyboard horn blasts and saucy backup vocals make tunes such as GONNA GETCHA sound right out of Prince's Paisley Park. The same goes for the deliciously pervy DADDY BAD BUTT with it's taunting shout out, 'Hey, batter,batter, swing.' (above review by St. Pete Times, June 16,2000.) From dance-oriented heavies to wavish glam-slams, the Ramonsters are a band that begs for a stroll through the old Paisley Park studio and an encounter with the Purple One. Especially with a song like 'Groupie,' that struts with an incredible groove, complete with cheesy skating rink organ fills, crowd pleasing train 'toots,' and some Frampton-like tube talking.
