Bob Storeygard - If I Can Help Somebody

This first CD recording project was a three year labor of love for Baritone Bob Storeygard. From his extensive choral and conducting background, he also has pursued a parallel path in solo Christian vocal music as a freelance Baritone soloist for some 36 years in the Twin Cities, and around the world. For this project, he also enlisted the services of world-class pianist/organist/bassist Bill Chouinard as his accompanist, and his own award-winning flutist daughter Kimberly, to join with him in his music-making. Together, they have created a wonderful and soulful tapestry of both well-known and lesser-known Christian pieces. They range from the standard Classical repertoire to the more Contemporary renditions of music with deeply spiritual lyrics that take you all the way from the first Call of the Lord on our lives to full Commitment to the Lord through service to others. Part of the inspiration for this CD was the incredible mission work done through St. Andrews Lutheran Church of Mahtomedi, MN, particularly in Slovakia and other parts of the world to help recover and re-energize the Christian Church in areas that were for many years oppressed through Communism. The resiliency of the Christian spirit in these places was more than enough inspiration to fuel this project. This CD is a collection of 19 pieces, ranging from lullabies, to spirituals, to ballads, to dramatic works, all intended to speak to various aspects of the journey of the Christian through life. If you are already a Christian, you will find this music both comforting and inspiring. If not, it is my hope that this will give you a glimpse into what the Christian life can and should be as we seek to serve Jesus and help our fellow Brothers and Sisters through life.
