Hospital Sessions marks the debut of Lucerne, Switzerland's Orangedrive. Over two years in the making, Hospital Sessions is an addictive collection of sincere songs crafted with charming vocal melodies, fuzzy guitar effects, and sputtering shimmied rhythms. Started three years ago by singer/guitarist Michael Mathis, Orangedrive went through a few lineup changes before finding guitarist Roland Saum, a founding member and integral element of the Swiss band Sportsguitar (Mathis was a former member as well), and Christop Copp. Roland's ability to sprinkle clangy, buzzy guitar lines and atmospheric noise over Michael's gorgeous melodies is an interesting and delectable combination. The final result is Hospital Sessions: nine songs that are instantly appealing and filled with such a sense of wonderment that the listener is instantly drawn into them. Orangedrive symbolizes a refreshing change in the world of indie pop. They play pop music like only the Europeans can: smooth, dreamy, and ultra-catchy.
