For their sophomore effort Ruder Than You decided to walk a fine line between '60s first-wave ska and '80s dancehall reggae. The instrumentals and somewhat random covers which include Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' and Prince Buster's 'Beg You Little More' provide some decent listening. However, the dueling vocals of Freddie Weaver (Freddie's debut recording with the group) and Doug Dubrosky on the dance tracks 'Uncle Albert' and 'Not Deaf Yet' showcase the band's ability to craft catchy upbeat tunes. This Moon Ska Records CD was released at the beginning of the height of the Third Wave of Ska, and captures the band as a 9-piece ensemble. ~ Curtis Zimmermann, All Music Guide.
