This CD is dedicated to Alabama blues musicians Willie King and Eddie Kirkland, who have recently passed and who were both a major presence and inspiration in my life. I want to also thank the many other Alabama musicians I have worked with over the years, especially Johnny Shines, Wild Child Butler, Jerry Boogie McCain, The Butler Twins, Little Whitt and Big Bo McGee, Little Lee, Sam Lay and Little Jimmy Reed. The Alabama Blues Project has been my primary focus over many years. Working with these amazing performers, we have traveled and performed "Blues in the Schools" programs, created a blues archive and presented outstanding live showcases of Alabama blues. Getting to share my band and working with so many amazing musicians has been a huge blessing I will forever treasure. With the passing of time, so many of these musicians have left us and almost all the old legends have now gone. This CD represents a major turning point where I am focusing on my own music. What comes out seems to move beyond the blues and reflects my wide range of musical passions and influences - it is clearly my own thing and that feels good. Hope you find something here to enjoy too.
