This is a CD of duets with bass players. Guitarist Annie Gallup is paired up with Sean Kelly, Michael Visceglia and Don Porterfield, with bass taking the roles of bass, rhythm, lead, voice and synthesizer. Gallup's works of fiction sparkle with the complexity and Polish of poetry; they crackle with spry wordplay and pulse with insistent rhythm. A gifted instrumentalist, her guitar work is a fresh interplay of short lead runs and complex picking patterns. She has been touring full time since 1994, with 6 previous CDs, and she has performed at several U.S. and Canadian festivals. In May 1999, she was heard on NPR in an interview with Noah Adams.
