The Craven Family Band Tim and Kim Craven have been playing folk music together since 1978. Oliver joined at the age of 5 in 1990 and Spencer came along telling jokes and selling tapes. Connor now also is a part of the group. Tim started playing original music at the Jawbone Coffeehouse at Penn State University in 1971. He travelled and sang lead for the original Whetstone Run bluegrass band and still plays in the old timey group The Rustical Quality String Band which has been together since 1978. Tim has also been a cab driver in State College and has been a Lutheran pastor in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania since 1987. Kimberley on the acoustic bass is also an Internet Banking Supervisor at Susquehanna Bank. Oliver went to Nashville in 2007 and in two days got a job playing fiddle and travelling with Adrienne Young. It was in that group that he met Andy Thacker who plays mandolin on The Flower Grown CD. Oliver has also travelled with The Steel Wheels and is now enjoying great success with our bestest pals The Stray Birds . Spencer is in a family way with two little daughters but still very much a part of the band. Connor is working on his own vocal sound with guitar, playing original songs and others. On The Flower Grown CD the group is joined by Jay Starling, the great dobro player and son of the Seldom Scene's John Starling. Also Dr. Mark Rast provides the driving banjo on the CD.
