Jazz trumpeter was the winner of the 1997 Thelonius Monk International Jazz Competition & appeared on the Top 10 Gavin Jazz charts in May of 1999; this album is his debut as a leader, and was produced by the legendary Donald Byrd, who is Darren's mentor & primary influence - his quintet contains Aaron Goldberg, Jimmy Greene, John Lamkin, Reuben Rogers & Kenny Garrett.
