Inspired by what they felt was a lack of diversity in a hard core dominated local music scene, they formed 'Plan B' later changed to 'the response'. High School friends Mike Angelastro and Aaron Evans started writing songs during the summer of 2001 inspired by punk veterans NOFX and the melodic ska reggae of Sublime. Early songs were simple, consisting of powerful lyrics and catchy guitar riffs. Mike Angelastro, started playing guitar at 19 years old. He learned what he could from friends and was heavily influenced at that time by the music of Bush and Everclear. He played off and on for about three years until re-uniting with high school friend Aaron Evans and began writing songs with a punk ska flavor. They met drummer Brandon Hansen in the winter of 2002 through a local music store and formed the trio, 'Plan B' and played several shows in their hometown Salt Lake City as well as surrounding northern Utah areas. In January of 2003, the group finished a 5 song unnamed EP with local recording guru/musician Joel Pack. Although the CD wasn't officially released until March of 2004 through SANDSTONE, the EP 'demo' sold close to 500 copies in less than three months. The official 'find a way' EP release came in March of 2004 through the new Ogden, Utah record label SANDSTONE DISCS aka Majority of One & Doghouse Records veteran Eric Lemle. Through a series of name changes because of a conflict with another group, the group finally settled on the better name of Last Response. In the summer of 2003 the group felt something was badly missing. They needing a fuller sound and fresh perspective. The group set forth the daunting task of finding a lead guitarist which turned out to be Gregg Hale, a former guitarist in the legendary British rock band 'SPIRITUALIZED'. He did more than just fill the position, with the acquisition of Greg, the band not only developed a fuller sound but also began experimental growth. Catch Greg on their second release. Recording for their anticipated second EP will begin in spring of 2004 with Joel Pack again. Mike is becoming known for his emotionally powerful but yet simplistic lyrical style and memorable songwriting. Look out for Last Response on their 'find a way' tour in the summer of 2004. The quartet has maintained their talent for simplistic rock, while adopting a more technical approach to new songs. 'We feel a need to evolve as we continue to write music' - Mike Angelastro F9 faction says... Formed in January 2002 as Plan B, this trio describes their music by saying 'we aim to create melodic, high energy tunes that will make you want to dance, cry, or eat the cupcake from the chubby kid in the front row.' They fit this description to a tee. They have a Green Day meets New Found Glory meets Screeching Weasel feel, but manage to add deep, expressive lyrics to their bouncy bass lines, intricate drum patterns and sweltering guitar riffs. They work extra hard to bring a smile to your face and a sweaty butt to your tighty whiteys. MORE GREAT CD's COMING FROM SANDSTONE SOON!
