Hillsborough NC's finest All-Instrumental Surf-Soul-Rock-Lounge-Fuzz-Guitar-Organ-From-Outer-Space Band, Killer Filler mixes classic-style originals with obscure gems, creating a sound that is as fun and danceable as it is eclectic. A review from the UK's 'Pipeline' magazine: 'Killer Filler are a five-piece group with lead and rhythm guitars, organ, bass and drums. Their 16 tracks include just five covers with only the classic Fever and the lesser-known Ventures LP track Wild Trip being familiar enough to mention. In terms of influences, the Ventures are probably the best place to start, and not least because of that group's adoption of a wide range of rock instrumental sounds and styles. We're certainly talking '60's here and Killer Filler share the Ventures' respect for a good rhythm, a solid beat and, most importantly, a decent melody. 'They mix and match a variety of guitar and keyboard sounds into well thought out arrangements that ensure their catchy hooks and themes hold your attention. Big Bad Bike has a biting rhythm, fuzzed and cascading guitar riffs, flowing organ breaks and a searing echo guitar solo all crammed into it's' dynamic 2 1/2 minutes. Mallsville is a twanging echo guitar theme of considerable charm while TintarellaDi Luna is a light-hearted Latin bouncer. Gogoductress and Bellzouki use an electric 12-string for that exotically mystical late-60's sitar effect, and while they're not a surf band it doesn't stop them using a touch of tasty reverb occasionally such as on the '60's sci-fi/space theme A Man Possessed. 'Suburbanite and Go This Way are another pair of haunting themes, these two featuring richly echoed twang with spooky organ. Mucho! Uses uplifting rhythms out of the Tequila/La Bamba mould, whilst on Morgan's Alley, Jellybeanin', and The Bailiff it's clear that Booker T. & the MGs and the Meters have a place in their hearts. So, there's plenty of variety on this very satisfying set--highly recommended,' --Alan Taylor.
