Chris Moore, "the skate-punk poet-laureate of New York City," and formerly of the seminal punk band Negative Approach and Americana group Crossed Wire, releases his fourth album of original songs on Waterbug. Moore's lyrics are angular, spare, and offer infinite depths into which to fall - like Bowie's best work, nothing is obvious, but a new facet of meaning shines out with every listening. The record ranges musically and stylistically through the back lots of pop, psychedelia, rock, and folk, looking out from behind the facades of familiar forms.
