The veteran Chicago folk/blues musician steps out with his first CD of original songs, adding influences from old pop, swing and country. Mark Dvorak is a traveling singer following in the steps of Woody Guthrie, Lead Belly, Big Bill Broonzy and Art Thieme. Highlights: "One Couldn't Run, One Couldn't See" was written after time spent with Brownie McGhee, the story of Brownie and Sonny in their style. "Not War," gentle and musically fascinating, urges peace. "My Rose of Jericho" with it's stick-in-your head tune and plot twist, recalls old country songs like "Green Green Grass of Home." with Keith Baumann on mandolin and dobro, and Al Ehrich on bass. "His singing is warm and engaging. Dvorak reminds US of how folk music becomes folk music." - Sing Out!
