A bizarre sense of humor mixed with sharp, angular mathish rock and hard slamming beats. Sing-along songs, perhaps even anthems, with off kilter electronic syncopation. Absurd observations and criticisms about the dark recesses in the souls of heavy metal troglodytes, office drones, and adorable puppies. An exceptional flare for retro-fashion and revisiting the dreaded team colors of the Nickel City's once proud super heroes. These are some things that summarize both the visual and sonic essence of Knife Crazy. The triumvirate consists of members Phil Freedenberg (Bloody Hollies, Dr Dirty Sanchez), Fen Ikner (Mexican Cession, the Happy Roving Troubadours) and Vic Lazar (Vox Humana, L'Dorado). Simultaneously brainy and cathartic, they nonetheless infuse their music with enough melody and hook to keep it from being too avant-garde and inaccessible for general audiences. The band is charting unpredictable new territory with an experimental compass, made from some refrigerator magnets, freedom ribbons, noodles and a stick of stale chewing gum from a package of Garbage Pail Kids. The planet they are mapping appears to be shaped like a pretzel.
