Originally released in Nov. 2005, this is a re-release of Dave Soldier's radio opera with lyrics by Kurt Vonnegut and music by Soldier based on the death of Private Eddie Slovik in WW II, the only American soldier to be shot for cowardice since the Civil War. It features Vonnegut as the General, radio legend Phil Schaap as the radio announcer, Dina Emerson as the Red Cross Girl, Wilbur Pauley as the MP, and Brad Hougham as the Soldier. The second portion of this CD contains "The Apotheosis of John Brown," an oratorio with lyrics adapted from the "Autobiography of Frederick Douglass" about the man whose actions initiated the Civil War. Features actress Robbie McCauley, Richard Auldon Clark, and the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra.
