Not long after the Brits were exposed to American R&B after WWII, the UK became one of the great consumers and exporters of rock 'n' roll. It began with the British Invasion of the 60s. In the 70's, we saw the monstrous of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd on one hand and incendiary punk rockers like the Sex Pistols and the Clash on the other. The 80's began with the likes of the Smiths, Joy Division and New Order and ended with Manchester super groups such as the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses. And, of course, in the middle 90's, it was all about Britpop.
