While it seems hardly fair to compare a 90-minute telecast to a full blown Broadway production, it can be said that Rodgers and Hammerstein surpassed themselves on this occasion. The live broadcast was the first of it's kind, and the radiant performance of newcomer Julie Andrews was magical.
