John Newell Philip - Chanting for Peace: Praying with the Earth

It is a selection of these words from the Hebrew Scriptures, the Word of Jesus and the Quran that John Philip Newell has used here. Linda Larkin, the composer from Santa Fe, has beautifully set them to chant form. Although sung in English, each chant has a descant in the original language of the tradition - whether Arabic, Hebrew, or Aramaic - giving them a distinctly Middle Eastern feel.
