In a time when emo and pop-punk acts rule the airwaves, there's a new sound in Detroit. Driven by memorable melodies and uplifting harmonies, Woodward's catchy and exciting new brand of indie rock has taken the Detroit scene by storm. With childhood friends John-Paul Zammit and Dan Karmel trading off on the mics, Woodward truly came into being in early 2006 as the band crystallized around drummer Dave Tilove's pocket-tight beats and keyboardist Steve'O Hull's tearing synth lines. Named after Woodward Avenue, home of the famous Dream Cruise and landmark to all of the Detroit area, Woodward has tapped into something completely new and exciting; a brand of music that is distinctly recognizable and full of personality. Barely a year old, Woodward has already packed such nationally renowned venues as the St. Andrew's Hall and The Blind Pig, and have earned their reputation for 'rocking your socks off', playing alongside such notable artists as Brian Vander Ark from The Verve Pipe, Howling Diablos, and The Hush Sound.
