The debut by Melbourne's Cut Copy is a collection of dram and love-laden turnes pulled together with Dan Whitford's inside-out knowledge of 80s flavored synths and studio trickery. Influences range from house to low-slung, fuzzed up punk garage and seminal 80s raincoat-wearing Mancunian electro-pop to nouveau disco, often within one song. Impossible to pigeonhole. Pop and dance. Happy sad. Simple yet complicated. Sincere yet cool. Naive but clever.
