Brian Eno invented ambient music in the '70s by taking classical elements and applying them to new instruments and recording technology for a pop audience. Groundbreaking at the time, the true significance of his music (and specifically this pioneering LP), only became apparent recently, as ambient music evolves as a true genre, influencing everything from dance to new age. Now, 20 years after it's original release, Music for Airports is re-created by New York's famed new music ensemble, Bang on a Can.
