Salt Like City singer/songwriter Kate MacLeod, "One of the leading lights of the contemporary folk music scene" (AP) delivers a compelling collection of Western-themed story songs. Blooming was recorded live in the studio, produced by Tim O'Brien, who adds vocals, fiddle, acoustic guitar, mandola, banjo; with Darrell Scott - piano, guitars, pedal steel, dobro; Byron House - bass; and Kenny Malone - percussion. Cover art by famed Western artist William Matthews. The song "Riding the White Horse Home" is based on a novel by the same name by western author Teresa Jordan. "Branded Heart" and "Return to Rollins" reflect MacLeod's knack for writing detailed stories with great new melodies in the style of the Carter Family.
