'Black And White And All In Between' is the first collection of works by singer/songwriter Cory Friesenhan, and provides a good look into the varied tastes and ideas which come with his art. Influenced by rock, folk, hip hop, country, funk, and so on, Cory is able to fuse together these genres, yet still is able to give the songs a general identity; that is, it is identifiably the works of one artist. Cory considers refers to his music as 'west coast acoustic', as not only does he often sing about the home he loves dearly, but also because the mood of his music can take extreme turns, much like the seasons of the west coast; it displays sunny feel-good summer anthems, coupled with meloncholy pieces that wash over you like the rains of the winter. This is merely the beginning for an artist who wants to build on the diversity of his music, without compromising his identity.
