Stephanie Cuomo - Awaken Me

Awaken Me. It is the realization of a lifelong dream. It is the result of the adventures of a young music leader. It is the story of God blessing a true calling. Stephanie Cuomo was born and raised in the southwestern U.S., graduating from high school in San Diego, CA. She attended Point Loma Nazarene College for two years before transferring to Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA to finish her education. Stephanie has been singing since her early years, and she was involved with music throughout high school and college. In 1997 she began working for Front-line, a growing Gen-X ministry of McLean Bible Church in the Washington, D.C. area. Now Steph is Frontline's Creative Arts Director and her career involves regularly leading worship and organizing the music for this cutting-edge service, where two thousand young adults gather each weekend. On the side, Stephanie collaborated in recent years with singer/songwriter Ryan Owens in a band known as Urthgirl. Fronting the band, Stephanie played mostly coffeehouse gigs and opened for numerous artists including Phil Keaggy, Kevin Max, Ginny Owens, Nichole Nordeman, Nicole C. Mullen, and Circadian Rhythm. After the release of two demos with Urthgirl, Steph's desire to pursue a different musical path led her to focus on her own solo project. While maintaining her Frontline career, Stephanie put in many an hour in the studio from July to October 2002, working closely with her husband (drummer & producer Dan Cuomo). The result is a record whose tones are candy to the ear... a diverse album unlike any other. It is a record from a young artist whose unique and passionate vocals are molded together with solid musicianship and catchy melodies. Steph had always wanted to make a record that would appeal to people in all walks of life, and Awaken Me does just that, with down-to-earth lyrics to which the world can relate. As Awaken Me emerges from the depths of the studio and into the musical realm, Stephanie continues to serve at Frontline, where God has blessed her with an amazing ministry. The release of this long-awaited record marks the beginning of a new musical chapter in her life, and only time will tell how God uses this incredible project to touch a desperate generation.
