Tucker Green is a dusty kind of familiar. His new record, Halfway to Daylight takes the old country sounds of lap steels and banjos and combines them with Americana guitar riffs to form an updated style of feel good rock. Shaped by a steady diet of Bruce Springsteen and Ryan Adams, Green's timeless sound centers around the value of a well-written song. Halfway to Daylight was produced by Jonathan Anderson (Stabilo, Aiden Knight) and mastered by Ed Brooks (Death Cab for Cutie, Cat Power, Iron and Wine). The record also includes well-known Vancouver singer songwriter Sheree Plett on guest vocals.  Halfway to Daylight is a long overdue reflection of Tucker Green's growing resume in the music industry. His credits include co-writing two songs on the independently released film Sharp As Marbles and touring Canada and the United States both as a session player and as a solo artist. With experience in production, each song on the album displays Green's attention to detail and well crafted songwriting. The record is filled with satisfying tunes, evoking a sense of nostalgia by way of familiarity without staleness. It introduces you to characters you recognize and are instantly invested in. You feel moments of concern in their struggles and relief in their successes. Songs like "Senior Year" compel you to open up your sunroof and let the summer hit you, while "All or Nothing" allows subtle string arrangements to carry you through it's relaxing melodies. Each song contributes to an overall feel-good quality, but still manages to maintain depth.
