Tangent - Origin

The album is listed as 1 Disc..but it is actually a 2-DISC digipak... this is the first release by Australian artist, Matt Stent, who is currently living in London. At an early age, Matt became fascinated with recording sounds as a way of capturing time, and being able to replay moments in time. He began by recording conversations and guitar onto a tape player. Soon after leaving high school, he discovered how computer programs could manipulate and alter these recorded moments of time, like bringing 'past time' into the future and altering it into a new light... The next discovery was being able to turn these recordings into separate tracks of digital format and burn them to disc, so that the captured moments of time could be taken to different environments and replayed. He viewed recording as having a blank canvas of silence (still air particles) and being able to move them in the desired way through the motion of the speakers..like throwing captured past time into the present air particles... This album 'the_origin' was recorded between December 2006 and February 2008, with some minor alterations occuring during 2008 and 2009. Tangent has a lot of recordings before this album, which have been collected into another album and a couple of EPs, but are currently unreleased.
