Ken Franz has been a strong presence in Milwaukee's music scene for many years. This hard working singer/songwriter fronted 2 of the Midwest's premier country bands from the late 80's to mid 90's, 'Showdown' and 'Midnight Highway.' Between both bands and solo career, he has entertained literally tens of thousands with his vocals, stage presence, and songs. After leaving 'Midnight Highway' Ken headed to Nashville to concentrate on his songwriting. He says,'When you study and are around people who do that for a living, it can't help but rub off on you. It's almost like learning through osmosis.' That studying paid off. Ken's songs are strong and heartfelt. They can get your toes tapping or tug at your heartstrings. Ken moved from Nashville to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area where he performed solo throughout the Metroplex for several years. After moving back to Milwaukee from Texas, Ken built on his already solid musical foundation as he continued to focus on his solo career. With the release of his freshman CD 'Penny for My Thoughts' in 2002 he was able to bring his music to larger audiences with a fare amount of success. He received airplay throughout the Midwest, Texas, and parts of the East Coast. His new release 'Take Me Back to Texas' is a step up from that previous release. Ken says, I'm proud of 'Penny' it's a very good CD, but I feel from the songwriting to the arrangements this new one is stronger. There is a definite maturation that has taken place.' Now with a band available as needed, he has the best of both worlds. Whether it's an intimate solo setting or larger band type venue, Ken Franz can and will continue to entertain as many people as possible.
