Kelly Kennedy Biography Kelly Kennedy is a musician, actress, composer, teacher and dancer. She has been a regularly featured performer in Colonial Williamsburg, since 1995, appearing in concerts at the Hennage and Kimball Auditoriums and in the Historic Area. A soprano, Kelly accompanies herself on piano, guitar, harpsichord, and a variety of traditional folk instruments. In addition, she tours and records with the Irish band, "39 Fingers", directs her own ensemble of Early American vocalists, "The Ad Hoc Choir," and has been a soloist with "Music Antiqua" in Washington D.C., and The Richmond Symphony Chorus. She has been the featured soloist at the Richmond Forum, singing for distinguished speakers Frank McCourt, the Hon. Mary Robinson, Tom Wolfe and Jim Leher. Kelly has been touring with Dean Shostak since 1999, and is a featured performer on two of his award winning recordings, "Colonial Faire" and "18th Century Mother Goose Songs." She has been twice awarded Partners in the Arts Grant from the Richmond Arts Council, has been a Statewide Touring Artist with the Virginia Museum and spent four years as a Touring Artist with the Virginia Commission for the Arts. Kelly currently performs workshops and concerts in traditional American music for Elderhostel, schools and museums throughout Virginia. As a composer, her arrangement of the English folksong "Oranges and Lemons" was sung by the Greater Richmond Children's Choir at the 13th annual Concorso Internazionale in Verona, Italy in 2002 and won first place. She has served as musical director/composer/ choreographer for several productions at Barksdale Theatre, Richmond, and in the fall of 2003, composed and arranged music for the world premiere of "Moby Dick" presented at the University of Richmond's Jepson Theatre. Her solo albums "Springfield Mountain" 2000, (originally released as "Wicked Polly",) and "Sweet Prospect" 2004, have garnered praise and airplay nationwide. As an actress Kelly has been seen at Arena Stage, The Kennedy Center, Theatre Virginia and most recently, received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Nancy in Byrony Lavery's haunting play "Frozen" at The Liberty Theatre in Hailey, Idaho.
