Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Features and Specs

Already ahead of the game in the foldable market, Samsung released its first foldable phone in September 2019, which created the Galaxy Z series. From then on we’ve seen the series go from strength to strength, with rumors already circling about the brand-new Galaxy Z Fold 5.

If you’re looking for your first foldable phone or you’re upgrading from your current foldable mobile, keep reading to find out everything about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, including features and specs.

In this blog:

Samsung Galaxy Fold

The first of its kind, a lot of people were taken aback by the $1,980 price tag! But we’ve got good news. The Galaxy Fold has dropped in value within the last four years and you can now get your hands on a refurbished Galaxy Z Fold for a lot less.

The main stand-out feature is clearly the screen. You get the benefits of a standard and larger screen all rolled into one – think of it like a phone turning into a tablet whenever you want.

Here are the main features and specs you can expect if you buy the Samsung Galaxy Fold:

  • Runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip
  • Dynamic AMOLED 2X display
  • 4235mAh battery
  • 4.6” to 7.3” screen size
  • Six-camera array, including a 10MP selfie camera, 12MP telephoto camera and 16MP Ultra-Wide camera
  • 512GB

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2

Just when we thought we had seen it all, we got the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Released in September 2020, Samsung turned it up a notch with improvements and new features.

With a smaller storage size of 256GB, this model still packs a punch and is perfect for productivity. It is a great option for your first foldable phone, especially if you’re looking to save big bucks.

On release, this Samsung mobile would have set you back $1,999 but it has since depreciated in price so you’re sure to grab a bargain.

You’ll get a much larger display than the Samsung Galaxy Fold and a more durable design, here are the main specs and features:

  • Runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chip
  • Dynamic AMOLED 2X display
  • 4,500 mAh battery
  • 6.2” to 7.6” screen size
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • 256GB
  • Supports 5G
  • 12MP triple camera and 10MP front camera

A few things to consider with this model is it is a pretty heavy device, weighing 9.9 ounces. So if you’re looking for a lightweight mobile then this isn’t the model for you.

Also, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 isn’t water resistant so you’re taking a gamble if you spill a drink on it or get caught in the rain.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The successor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, this foldable model was released in August 2021 and cost $1,799 for 256GB and $1,899 for 512GB.

So if you’re looking for a brand new Galaxy Z Fold 3 you’ll still be able to get hold of one but if you want to save, buy a refurbished Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 instead to get the same features but for a much better price.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes with some outstanding features, including Samsung’s first under-display camera! You’re sure to get a stronger and faster device if you opt for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 compared to the older models in the Z series.

Here are the main features and specs for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3:

  • Runs on the Snapdragon 888 chip
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Dynamic AMOLED display
  • 6.2” to 7.6” screen size

Now if you want to buy the best foldable phone Samsung has to offer right now, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is perfect, but if you’re on a budget, not so much.

Released in August 2022, you’ll be getting the best features. However, with the brand new Galaxy Z Fold 5 set to be released very soon, you’ll find the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will drop in value and you’ll be able to find more deals. On release, this model would set you back $1,799 (256GB), $1,919.99 (512GB), and $2,159.99 for (1TB).
