Price

It’s no surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S23 price is more than the Samsung S22 as it is the newest series to be released, but how much more expensive is it really?

We’ve crunched the numbers so you don’t have to!

Samsung Galaxy S23 series:

Galaxy S23 – From $799.99

Galaxy S23 Plus – From $999.99

Galaxy S23 Ultra – From $1199.99

Samsung Galaxy S22 series:

Galaxy S22 – From $699.99

Galaxy S22 Plus – From $999.99

Galaxy S22 Ultra – From $1199.99

If you’re choosing a phone based just on the price, take into consideration that you will pay more if you increase the storage.

Design and display

There has been a slight change to the design of the Galaxy S23 compared to the Galaxy S22. It has separated cameras on the back, whereas on the Galaxy S22, the cameras are joined together in a rectangular block.

If you were expecting bigger devices from the S23 range, then you may be disappointed. Samsung has kept the models the same as last year, for example, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 are 6.1 inches, and the Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S22 Plus are 6.6 inches. Plus, both Ultra models have a 6.8-inch display.

In terms of the Samsung Galaxy S23 display, the max brightness has been increased to 1,750 nits, whereas the Galaxy S22 has a rating of 1,300 nits.

You’ll also find that the Galaxy S23 series is slightly tougher than the Galaxy S22, so if you’re known for dropping your phone, this is good news. The Galaxy S23 uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2, instead of Gorilla Glass Victus Plus which the S22 has.

In terms of color options, this year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 has a choice of Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender. The Galaxy S22 has five options, including Black, White, Purple, Green, and Pink gold.

Also, if you buy either model through Samsung, you’ll have the option of some exclusive colors to choose from.

Camera

Samsung phones are known for having stunning cameras, so you won’t go wrong with either the Galaxy S23 series or the Galaxy S22 range. With that said, there are a few upgrades from last year that may make all the difference.

While Galaxy S23 Ultra gets a new 200MP sensor, the only change to the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus is the front camera has been increased to 12MP from 10MP. The rest is the same as the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus, for example, they all have a 50MP main camera, 12MP Ultra Wide, and 10MP 3x optical zoom telephoto camera.

Battery

Both the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus have slightly larger batteries than their predecessors.

However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra has the same 5,000 mAh battery as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, although the S23 Ultra lasts longer.

Plus, if you haven’t already got a Samsung phone, you will need to buy an adapter as they’re still not included in the box, so you will only get a USB-C cable.

Performance

Straight away, the Galaxy S23 series is going to be more powerful as it has been given a better chip. The previous Samsung S22 series has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip, whereas the Samsung S23 series has a Snapdragon 8 Gne 2 chipset. So expect faster downloading speeds and better performance as the processor has been upgraded.

In terms of storage, the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S22 have the same 128GB and 256GB of storage. However, the Galaxy S23 Plus now starts at 256GB and the Galaxy S23 goes up to 1TB of storage, just like the Galaxy S22.
