Everything you need to know about the iPhone SE

Apple announced a new release of the iPhone SE (or iPhone 9 as some people like to call it!). It’s their latest mid-range phone that’s super affordable. Better yet – it’s just as powerful as the iPhone 11 Pro!

While it’s pretty similar to the iPhone 8 in terms of its other specs, Apple have branded the newly released iPhone SE as the most powerful single-lens camera phone. Let’s see what else there is to know about Apple’s latest phone!

How much is the iPhone SE?

The iPhone SE is priced at $399 – which for a new iPhone is a fantastic price. As with every new phone release, older generations are now going to depreciate in value. If you’re considering the iPhone SE, it’s worth trading in your old phone and putting the cash towards it!

What does the iPhone SE look like?

The new iPhone SE comes with a 4.7 inch Retina HD and a True Tone feature for screen viewing that’s easy on the eyes. The iPhone SE also comes in the colors Black, Red and White.

It’s also got a sapphire crystal for its home button and is enabled with Touch ID to help you protect your phone and sensitive data. The iPhone SE, you’ll be pleased to know, has an IP67 water-resistance rating, meaning it can withstand depths of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

What’s the iPhone SE’s camera like?

The iPhone SE’s camera has had a major overhaul. It has a 12MP rear camera at f1.8 aperture, which is fantastic for portrait shooting. It also includes six portrait lighting modes for even better photos. Expect a nice background blur and sharp subjects using the iPhone SE’s camera!

Its 7MP front camera is still pretty impressive, but falls short of the market average of 8MP. Despite this, it’s still a fantastic upgrade nonetheless.

How’s the iPhone SE’s battery life?

Its battery is paired with the iPhone 8 at 1821mAh, which is worth 8 hours of video playback time, 8 hours of streamed video playback and 40 hours worth of audio playback. Considering how small the SE is, that’s a lot of battery power for everyday streaming!

How powerful is the iPhone SE?

It’s far more powerful than the old SE. It has 3GB of RAM, meaning you can use multiple apps simultaneously without any lag. It also has the same processor chip as the iPhone 11 Pro (A13) – which is the most powerful chip to exist so far. Compared to the A11 chip it had before, you can definitely expect a smooth experience with the new iPhone SE.

When can I buy the iPhone SE?

You can pre-order the iPhone SE on the Apple website now! It’s officially able to ship on the 24th April 2020.

iPhone X vs iPhone SE

The pocket-friendly size of the iPhone SE is a great choice for those after a smaller device. Much of its specs are similar to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 8 – which still continues to be a massive hit for iPhone fans.

The iPhone X has a fantastic, sleek design with a glass back and a screen that goes to the edges of the phone. It also doesn’t have a home button, meaning the screen is able to display more of what you need.

The Face Recognition of iPhone X phones is an extremely popular feature. Whilst its chip may be older (A11), it does have a dual camera, which as we all know, is an incredibly important feature for many when it comes to taking the best photos.

Whilst the SE has clearly upped its game, it’s still not as good as the iPhone X in terms of functionality.
